About Oncology Center
With a commitment to a patient-centered approach, at the Assuta Oncology Center,
everything revolves around the patient – in preparation for, during, and after medical procedures.
The center features a multidisciplinary consulting approach (with a team called the Tumor Board),
which integrates expertise from physicians across oncology, surgery, plastic surgery, radiology, and other specialties.
This broad-range team makes medical decisions and is responsible for the patient’s complete
continuum of care under one roof, from diagnosis, to surgery, treatment, and recovery.
Services provided by the Oncology Center
-
Oncological and Surgical Consultation Services: Specialty clinics featuring renowned experts work in concert with the oncology team to provide medical advice and treatment.
-
The Chemotherapy Center: The Chemotherapy Center delivers treatment in its day hospital and provides oncology consultation and outpatient treatments for all medical indications and during all disease stages.
-
Radiotherapy Institute: As a radiation oncology center, the institute implements a complete array of advanced treatment protocols such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
to minimize radiation damage to vital organs and healthy tissues,
image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) for targeted real-time patient treatment despite patient movement, and daily monitoring so that radiation treatment achieves maximum accuracy directed to the tumor area.
The institute also performs stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)
using the world’s most advanced treatment techniques. -
MRI-Guided Linear Accelerator for Radiotherapy: Assuta is the first hospital in Israel and among only several dozen hospitals worldwide to offer treatment with this new integrated accelerator.
The MRI-LINAC is a therapeutic breakthrough, in particular for cancer patients with tumors in the abdominal or pelvic cavities, including those with pancreatic, liver, prostate, or lung cancer.
The use of the MRI-LINAC instills hope in many cancer patients; it shortens treatment duration,
and, in some cases, replaces surgery. -
Medical Imaging Center: The first step in gaining diagnostic insights
Assuta invests extensively in equipment that enables the medical team to accurately assess the
patient’s medical situation. With a precise diagnosis, the team tailors the personalized treatment plan according to each patient’s specific medical needs.
The Medical Imaging Center performs CT, PET-CT, and MRI scans, among others.
