Uterine polypectomy
Get information about Assuta’s innovative methods for diagnosing and treating uterine polyps
Uterine polyps, common among women, are tumors in the lining of the uterus. Most uterine polyps are benign (non-cancerous) .In most cases, when a polyp grows inside the uterus, it can cause increased menstrual bleeding, irregular bleeding during menstruation, or infertility.
In these cases, doctors recommend removing the polyps. The most common surgery for this is a hysteroscopy.
About surgical hysteroscopy
This procedure to remove polyps is performed through the vagina, so it prevents the need for abdominal incisions and does not cause external scars. After the hysteroscopy, which is performed under general anesthesia, the patient is discharged home and can return quickly to routine activity.
For small polyps, a diagnostic hysteroscopy can be done without general anesthesia or hospitalization.
